Here’s the perfect book for you according to your sign

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Casper Libero chapter.

All of us, readers, have been through the feeling of wanting to read but having absolutely no idea what to pick, or even worse, starting a book that wasn’t flowing and then giving up. So how about letting the stars decide for a change? The astrologer Naiara Tomayno, from Minas Gerais, suggested the perfect book for you according to your zodiac sign. Check it out!

ARIES: “Lord of the flies”, by William Golding

The first zodiac sign in the chart shows opinion and willpower. Very independent, Aryans tend to go after their goals even if it means some fights in between. With the spirit of leadership, “Lord of the flies”, by William Golding, will catch their attention and generate great entertainment at reading time, with all the tension and action of the little boys that crash a plane in a desert island and have to learn to survive in this new reality during World War II.

TAURUS: “As I Lay Dying”, by William Faulkner

For Taurus, Naiara Tomayno  recommends the reading of “As I Lay Dying”, by William Faulkner. In her words: “One of the great highlights of this book is the relationship with the passage of time and especially with attachment, one of the most striking characteristics of the Taurus sign. In addition, topics such as dealing with the affection for the lives of those we love and how it affects us are also addressed.”

GEMINI: “One hundred years of solitude”, by Gabriel García Márquez

For Gemini, talkative, active and curious people, the astrologer suggests “One hundred years of solitude”, by Gabriel García Márquez. “Maybe the Gemini mind can better follow the number of names and characters in this book, but observing exchanges with other people and how our communication happens is already an art in itself”, she says.

CANCER: “Pride and Prejudice”, by Jane Austen

Connected with the Moon goddess, this sign is very aware of the emotional and subjective universe, and nothing would represent Cancer better than a book involving a lot of love, family and learning. The historical novel by Jane Austen, “Pride and Prejudice, would do the job. The famous story of Elisabeth and Mr. Darcy portrays the pressure of society on a young girl to marry a rich man. But, with a lot of personality, the main character will show that there is much more to her than that, even with Darcy’s undeniable charm.

LEO: “Gone Girl”, by Gillian Flynn

Leos know that they were born to shine and attract attention, the spirit of protagonism that comes from the ruling Sun explains why. Very brave and determined, “Gone Girl”, by Gillian Flynn, has all these characteristics. A woman who disappears on the day of her fifth wedding anniversary causes a great uproar in the city – and her husband is the first suspect in her disappearance. Protagonists full of surprises will make the Leonines be surprised by the reading.

VIRGO: “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up and Spark Joy”, by Marie Kondo

Now, for Virgos, Naiara suggests a best-seller: “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up and Spark Joy”, by Marie Kondo. In her words, this book “addresses a topic that is at the top of Virgo people’s priorities: planning and organization. Bringing a diverse and helpful approach, Virgos will benefit greatly from this reading.”

LIBRA: “Persuasion”, by Jane Austen

With a strong spirit and open to change, Libras always try to look at all sides of a story so that there is no injustice. And, to spice up this side a little, the novel by Jane Austen, “Persuasion, would be a great choice. The main character is Anne Elliot, a girl who has to make an important decision at a very young age that will change her future forever.

SCORPIO: “The Passion According to G.H.”, by Clarice Lispector

For Scorpio, the most mysterious and passionate sign of the zodiac, the astrologer Naiara proposes a book called “The Passion According to G.H”, by Clarice Lispector. “This book is as impactful, deep and intense as the Scorpio mind. It shows us how to be at peace in the midst of restlessness and loneliness, bringing us the beauty of a reflective existence”, she says.

SAGITTARIUS: “Eat, Pray, Love”, by Elizabeth Gilbert

Lively, fun, optimistic and with a strong free spirit, what book would be better for a Sagittarius than one about traveling and learning around the world? “Eat, Pray, Love”, by Elizabeth Gilbert, tells the story of a woman who supposedly has everything, but loses it all overnight. On a journey of self-discovery, she decides to spend a year traveling to different countries to find herself again.

CAPRICORN: “Animal Farm”, by George Orwell

With more reserved characteristics, Capricorns, different from what many think, spare no effort to achieve what they want, and George Orwell with “Animal Farm”, manages to convey exactly that in this book. Dissatisfied with the domain of their owner, Mr. Jones, the animals on the farm decide to make a revolution, but not everything goes as planned.

AQUARIUS: “Anne of Green Gables”, by L.M. Montgomery

Revolutionary, ahead of time and determined, Aquarians will feel represented by the protagonist of this series of eight books – Anne of Green Gables, by L.M. Montgomery. Adapted from Netflix, this book introduces us to a young protagonist named Anne, who, after being adopted by an elderly couple, will show what she’s worthy and move everyone with her way.

PISCES: “Wonder”, by R. J. Palacio

Giving meaning to life and empathy are two things of extreme importance to Pisceans. Sensitive, sweet and friendly, this sign will be very moved by the story of Auggie Pullman in “Wonder”, by R J Palacio, a little boy who was born with facial deformities, and his family who have always loved him. However, this time in a new environment: elementary school.

All the books that have been listed are great reads regardless of your sign. But, to find your perfect match, how about giving a shot to the one according to the month you were born? It might surprise you!
