From a few years to nowadays, the subject “mental health” has become a topic increasingly discussed in our society. And it’s no wonder why… pandemic, new wars, economic crises. So, how do we take care of our mental health? A survey was done in 2017 by the WHO showed that 322 million people worldwide suffered from depression and 264 million from anxiety.

A new survey released in March of this year showed that global rates of depression and anxiety, in the first year of Covid-19, increased by 25% — an alarming number. But why is it so important to talk about and take care of our mental health? Besides influencing our physical conditions and well-being, emotional imbalance also facilitates the emergence of mental illnesses over the years.

Thinking about this, we have selected seven podcasts that talk about the subject and can help you to take care of your mental health:

Therapy For Black Girls

A weekly chat about all things: mental health, personal development, and all the small decisions we can make to become the best possible versions of ourselves. Dedicated to black women and girls.

Tiny Leaps, Big Changes

A personal development podcast focused on exploring the day-to-day behaviors we all engage in that determine the results we gain in our lives. Hosted by Gregg Clunis, the show shares simple strategies you can implement into your life to start moving the needle towards your biggest goals.

Meditation Minis Podcast

Short guided meditations to calm your anxiety, overcome negative thinking, increase your confidence, and more. You don’t have the time, or mental focus, to meditate? Most of these guided meditations are just 10 minutes, sometimes less.

Mentally Yours

A weekly mental health podcast from Metro. Ellen Scott and Yvette Caster chat to people who have lived with mental illness, from shop workers to celebrities, to educate, empathize and challenge stigma. Ellen has OCD, depression, and anxiety, Yvette has bipolar disorder and binge-eating disorder. Both know what a lonely place mental illness can be. These podcasts offer hope and proof that things can improve. New episode every Monday.

Estamos bem?

Every Monday, the journalists Bárbara dos Anjos Lima e Thiago Theodoro invite you to join them on a journey of self-knowledge to seek cooler and lighter ways to live. A Brazilian podcast.

Desestresse

Another Brazilian podcast is conversations about strategies of adaptation to deal better with stress and how to use wellness practices to improve health. All based on science and with a pinch of affection. Interviews with health professionals and people who inspire us to live lighter, with practical tips to improve health.
