Choose where to eat in a city with so many options can be a really overwhelming thing to do, that usually takes more time than the actual activity. So here is a list of good places, from breakfast to dinner, to go to in the city that never sleeps.
Breakfast – Bibla Cafeteria e Livraria (@bibla.bibla)
To start the day Bibla is the perfect spot, a nice cafeteria and bookstore, combined to create a cozy cultural place for those who love literature.
With a collection of over 4,000 titles and a menu with a bunch of cold and hot drinks, sweet and savory options, the restaurant is located at 58 Praça Professora Emília Barbosa Lima, Vila Madalena, São Paulo, SP. The cafeteria opens from 8 a.m to 9 p.m from Tuesday to Friday, and from 9 a.m to 7 p.m on Saturday.
The place has a historical vibe, with all the books and the ancient furniture, from auctions and antique fairs. It’s not just a cooking experience, it’s cultural too, perfect to get out of the screens a little, enjoy the moment and take a break from the routine.
Lunch – Mata Città (@matacitta)
A piece of Italy in São Paulo, Mata Città is a restaurant with seven different environments, all inspired by the 60’s and 70’s Italian cinema.
The menu has options to praise everyone, with classic Italian appetizers, salads, pasta, seafood, pizzas and desserts. Besides the lunch and dinner options, that go normally from 12 p.m to 10 p.m (with really specific hours in each day, so if you’re planning to go, check their website first) they have breakfast and brunch, with coffees, cannoli, panini and a lot more of Italian food.
The restaurant is located at the Cidade Matarazzo (260 Alameda Rio Claro, Bela Vista, São Paulo, SP) recognized as the largest historical heritage restoration project of the country. Along with the restaurant, the place has a lot of cultural experiences, exhibitions, stores, a chapel and the famous Rosewood hotel.
Cidade Matarazzo is the perfect spot to spend a whole afternoon after having a delicious lunch with your family at Mata Città.
Snack – FFV Café (@ffv_cafe)
A mix of Minas Gerais heritage and the “cool” aesthetic of São Paulo’s center, the FFV Café is a cozy place with an analogic picture aesthetic, from the decoration to the menu. The music, always on vinyl, comes to complete the vibe of the place, that turns out to be not just an eating spot, but a cultural meeting point too.
The menu has a lot of different items, most of them being Mina’s traditional dishes, including “pão de queijo”, with more fillings options than you could possibly imagine. The restaurant works from 10 a.m until 7 p.m from Tuesday to Saturday, and on Sundays from 1 p.m to 6 p.m. Located at 240 Barão de Tatuí Street, São Paulo, SP, that’s the perfect place to go chatting and spending time with your friends, and perhaps take the opportunity to buy a camera or develop pictures.
Dinner – Holy Burger (@holyburgersp)
Now if you’re in São Paulo you must stop at Holy Burger, a little tiny place, which if you don’t know the backstory you would probably just ignore it, that has one of the best hamburgers ever. And it’s not just a personal opinion, in 2025 they were internationally recognized by Burgerdudesas the world’s third best burger, with their hamburger Pony Line.
The restaurant takes place at 527 Dr. Cesário Mota Júnior Street, São Paulo, SP. A very cozy and pretty ambience, where you can either go with friends, family or partner. Their menu has not only over ten burger options, but some hummy entries, including their famous “coxinha de pastrami”, some desserts, like milkshakes, chocolate cake, apple pie and the well-known “pudim na lata”.
The place opens at lunch time too, at 11 a.m and then again for dinner at 6 p.m. But before you go to Holy Burger, you must know, they’re always full, especially at night, so you should either get there right when it opens or have the patience to wait in line for a couple of hours, which in the end is totally worth it by the way.
