Christmas is just around the corner and the best way to get into the Christmas spirit is to crack out the decorations. Decorating can be hard when you’re away from home but don’t let that stop you from getting festive. Here are some easy ways to decorate your dorm for the Christmas season and bring a little holly jolly to your room.

1. Mini Christmas Tree

A tree is number one on most peoples’ lists but not everyone has room for a full-sized one. Try getting a miniature tree to place on your table or desk.

2. Pencil Holder

Switch out your regular pencil holder for a festive mug and put your pens and pencils in it instead. Mugs can be used for more than just drinking hot chocolate this season.

3. Add a wreath to your dorm room door.

4. Lights

Fairy lights seemed to be all the rages this summer, giving your room the perfect Tumblr look. However, now is the time to play with colour. Choose lights with Christmas colours like red and green.

5. Display your Christmas cards on a table for everyone to see.

6. Throw blanket

Negative 20 degrees is not everyone’s favourite weather so, make sure to add a cute Christmas theme throw blanket to your bed and add some pillows if you’re feeling it.

7. Garlands

Garlands don’t just belong on trees, add one around your window or cork board.

8. Add cheap Christmas posters to the wall in your dorm

9. Candles

Candles may not be allowed on all campuses (for good reason) but you can use scented plug-ins. Choose your favourite holiday smells from hot chocolate to peppermint.

10. Make sure to have a holiday playlist play on repeat with all of your favourites, and you’ll be Christmas ready!
