Tired after a long school week? Feeling under the weather? Just want a break? However you are feeling, I’m here to remind you that you don’t need a reason to have a cozy night in!

There are so many perks to spending a night in. You’re saving money, getting a good (and well deserved) night of sleep, spending time with your closest friends, and/or spending some much needed time with yourself.

So you’ve decided to stay in…but sometimes deciding how to entertain yourself for the night can be a little more complicated. Whether it is your first year in college, or your last, there are lots of fun ways to spend a night in. Here are some fun ideas on how to pass the time when you are hanging out at home for the night!

Idea #1: Refresh Your Closet
We know that feeling of an overflowing closet, yet feeling like you have nothing to wear, ALL too well. Being on a college budget doesn’t stop that lingering temptation of wanting to refresh your wardrobe. Here is a budget-friendly solution to take your clothes to the next level and make the most of a cozy night in. Take some scissors, sewing equipment, or bleach and tie dye, and get creative with revamping the items that just aren’t doing it for you anymore. Your least favorite shirt might make its way back to your favorite with a simple crop. Your old sweats can turn into your go-to sweatshorts. This is an awesome alternative to shopping that is time consuming and doesn’t break the bank! And for those items that just aren’t for you anymore, consider bringing them into Clothing Revival and getting some cash for your clothes!

Idea #2: Scrapbook or make a pinterest board
In college, it can be easy for your mind to race in what feels like millions of different directions. Scrapbooking, whether the old-fashioned way or digitally on Pinterest, can be a wonderful way to practice mindfulness and allows you to visualize whatever aspect of life you desire! Bucket list travel destinations, your favorite childhood photos, or even simply compiling your favorite art pieces can be a great place to start. Whether you decide to do this in your alone time or you grab a few friends and get crafty together, this fun idea is bound to spark your creativity and bring some positive energy. You can even create a scrapbook for the school year with all of your roommates!

Idea #3 Bake something new!
Baking is a classic way to spend a night in, and your roommates will thank you! Blueberry cheesecake cookies, strawberry shortcakes, and olive oil cake are all perfect September treats. As we head into fall, apples, pears, and raspberries are all in their prime season, which are wonderful to throw into desserts or salads as well.

No matter how you choose to spend a night in, enjoy yourself and allow yourself the space you need to refresh!
