Conveniently nestled on Higuera St. in the heart of downtown San Luis Obispo, the newly opened Pure Green Juice Bar offers a colorful menu of high-performance and immunity focused foods. Their stacked menu truly has something for everyone: smoothies, pressed juices, superfood toasts, oatmeal, acai bowls and more.
I had the opportunity to sit down and speak with Raman Dhaliwal, Pure Green’s Pure Green’s manager of operations and community outreach, and learn about her experience opening a franchise that supports her passion for health and wellness. Dhaliwal shared that the combination of her personal interest in health and wellness and her profession as a Pilates instructor inspired her to join the Pure Green team.
Pure Green officially opened in the fall of 2025, during downtown SLO’s Sidewalk Sale. Dhaliwal reminisced on the excitement of opening day and the rewarding success of meeting the SLO community at large for the first time. The high foot traffic from the sidewalk sale allowed Pure Green to introduce their health-focused juice bar to local customers. Dhaliwal expressed her gratitude for the immense support Downtown SLO gives to businesses and its shop-local initiatives. Dhaliwal explained her fulfilling and full-circle feelings about Pure Green being a returning vendor at the upcoming 2026 Spring Sidewalk Sale on March 29.
When reflecting on the hardest challenges of opening this Pure Green location, Dhaliwal noted that the transition felt smooth and simple, but staffing and creating a team demanded patience and time. She takes pride in their team members and speaks highly of their dedication, creating strong connections with guests and regulars.
Exploring the Menu
Smoothies and acai are the most popular items on the menu, and the Pure Green smoothie is the week-to-week fan favorite. The most popular acai bowls are the chocolate hazelnut and the mixed berry bowl. I learned that all their bowls are made by blending acai and frozen fruits with the customer’s preferred liquid base. Unlike the popularly used scoopable acai that contains extra additives, Pure Greens focuses on the simplicity of its products. Even their peanut butter has no added salt or oils! Dhaliwal shared that every ingredient and product has a purpose and function. Menu items are made to enhance athletic performance, provide vitamins and superfoods, or just offer basic deliciousness.
Dhaliwal’s personal favorite juices are the Golden Girl and the Pure Gingerade. I had the opportunity to try the Golden Girl juice, and I was a big fan of the strong ginger taste and light apple-y sweetness!
The cold-pressed juices are a great grab-and-go option for customers with active and fast-paced lifestyles. Their simple functionality makes it easy to stock up your fridge for the week. Pure Green also offers cold-pressed juice shots with similar antioxidant and performance benefits like gut health, recovery, and anti-inflammation. For juice enthusiasts, another great menu item is the 1 to 3-day cold-pressed juice cleanse.
Upcoming Events and Opportunities
Pure Green frequently partners with local fitness studios, including Slo x Form, Power House Fitness and BodyRok, to share their juices and promote healthy lifestyles. Dhaliwal teased future collaborations and events with SLO x Form and Bodyrok, specifically the St. Patrick’s Day event with BodyRok. The St. Patrick’s event, promoted as the “St. Baddies Walk”, took place at 10:30 a.m. on March 15 at the Pure Green store downtown.
Pure Green also offers Cal Poly students a budget-friendly option to get 10% off their order when they show their student ID in person at checkout. Same for downtown businesses, SLO neighbors discount (in-person only).
Download Pure Green’s app to pre-order juices and food, with their menu also available on DoorDash and other food delivery apps.
The secret ingredient of Pure Green’s success is not a specific vegetable or fruit, but an emphasis on creating and maintaining authentic connections with the SLO community.
