With all this recent talk about North Korea and “impending war” on the news, it can be hard to find reliable news sources to tell you what is truly going on. A lot of what is happening on the global scale can seem complicated and it’s easy to brush aside important topics because of their “daunting” and problematic appearance. As a concerned human being with a will to live I was curious myself, and I took some time to get to the bottom of what is occurring between the US and Korea, and compile the evidence into a short summary. So, are we screwed?

Well, first let’s examine what “threats” we are exactly dealing with. When the Obama administration turned the White House over to the current Trump administration, relations with North Korea were tense already and would prove to be an important issue. Why? The North Koreans have nuclear and ballistic missiles that could strike US allies’ soil and artillery war machines that could strike South Korean soil, which could pose problems in worldwide proportions. Basically, the North Koreans have big guns that could hit other countries. You may be asking, why does this matter?

Currently, the North Korean military does NOT have a weapon powerful enough to hit US soil, but it DOES have weapons powerful enough to hit some of our allies’ bases, some of which host American soldiers. And, although their technology has not reached potential to “wipe us to ashes” as they claim, their technology may very well improve enough to get to that point in the next few years. And, although the topic of an “impending war” may be blown out of proportion currently, if North Korea decides to attack South Korea or another country, there will still be horrible damage done to the country targeted.

So what do we do about any of this? Whereas before Trump seemed confident in his ability to solve the problems at hand, he has adopted a more serious and realistic stance and is claiming to “reevaluate his plans” to deal with the situation. I, however, still have yet to find out what Trump plans to do about it, and what his original plan was in this first place.

On the bright side, Trump seems to have realized the enormity of the situation, but no one is sure if he knows what to do about it. But here’s one thing everyone is sure of: our current administration needs to get it’s s**** together before it stands to solve a global issue as weighted as this one.
