Top Five Disney Movies to watch during the Holiday Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Lutheran chapter.

The movies that are based on Christmas tell us that it’s is the most wonderful time of the year! It’s a season of giving back, seeing loved ones, and turning into Santa Claus. If you’re going to be babysitting or unwinding here are my top picks for Disney movies to watch in no particular order.

Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas/Twice Upon a ChristmasPicture from Amazon

Both of these movies are classics to watch during the Holiday season. They’re about Mickey Mouse and his friends. I love the morals the tales talk about that relate to the holidays. For example, in the Huey, Dewey, and Louie story in Once Upon a Christmas about how we can’t have Christmas every day. Both movies are one and a half hour each, so it’s great for some downtime during the busy season.

Beauty and the Beast Enchanted ChristmasPicture from Amazon

Belle is the only princess that has a Christmas movie. The story is about the Beast not liking Christmas and Belle tries to fix that. This movie fills in some of the plot holes that Beauty and the Beast has. Such as more detail into how Belle fell in love with the Beast in order to break the spell. It has most of the original cast from the movie, with an addition of Tim Curry as the maestro, Forte who tries to stop the Beast from having fun during Christmas.

Nightmare Before ChristmasPicture from popsugar

This movie is always acceptable to watch during Halloween and Christmas. The Christmas scenes such as when Jack Skellington hijacks Christmas has to be one of the most iconic scenes in Christmas cinema. Nightmare Before Christmas has some warm undertones hidden among its dark visuals. Such as the ending when Santa sprinkles Halloweentown with some snow.

The Santa ClausePhoto from Amazon

If you grew up watching Christmas movies on the Disney Channel. You’ll know about The Santa Clause starring Tim Allen. It’s about an average man who becomes Santa Claus because of a terrible accident on his rooftop. The script is still full of laughs and its sequel The Santa Clause 2 is pretty good as well.

Prep And LandingPhoto from amazon

This TV short is really fun and a little different because it talks about the elves instead of Santa. It’s about a high-tech team of elves from an elite unit known as Prep and Landing ensures homes around the world are prepared for Santa’s visit.
