Now that it’s almost winter break, you’ve got weeks of relaxation ahead of you! The winter holidays are my favorite time of year- I can finally sing carols without getting annoyed looks from my friends, eating candy canes for dinner is acceptable, and (despite finals) my family and friends are all more cheerful. But one of my favorite parts of the season is cuddling up with a hot cocoa and my favorite humans to watch some classic holiday movies. Whether you need to unwind or just have a nice evening (or morning #WinterBreak), here are 4 of my favorite holiday movies to curl up to!!

1. Elf (2003)

It’s hard to remember a time when Will Ferrell wasn’t one of comedy’s biggest stars. Elf was the film that turned him into a candy-gobbling, box office-conquering phenomenon. Ferrell is Buddy, an adult man who grew up thinking he’s an elf, and travels to New York to find his biological father. Buddy’s search for his dad will not only change him but will also change those around him.

2. The Nightmare before Christmas (1993)

Who knew combining the Skeleton King of Halloween and Christmas would make for the best Christmas movie of all time? Full of spooky singing, creepy Halloween Town residents, ridiculous kidnappings, and the heartwarming love between a skeleton and a rag doll, The Nightmare Before Christmas can do no wrong.

3. Dr. Suess’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)

You read the book when you were little, and sometimes you feel like you resonate more with the Grinch than with the Whos in Whoville. Whether it’s the animated version or Jim Carey’s version, How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a classic Christmas movie that is a good choice if you’re looking for a chuckle but also a feel-good ending.

4.Home Alone (1990)

Kevin takes on two burglars all by himself during the holidays in this film. Don’t underestimate him, though; he is a force to be reckoned with. Find someone who doesn’t love Home Alone and I will give up sugar for the rest of my life. This timeless classic somehow combines my biggest fears and my silliest revenge fantasies into one of the most fun and ultimately heartfelt Christmas movies of all time.
