Skincare Tips for Hot Southern Californian Days

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Lutheran chapter.

Now that the weather is back to hot and dry, it’s time we start to really pay attention to our skin’s health. From what I’ve learned personally from my mom, sunscreen is the most important skincare product that should be a part of your daily routine. So for healthy and smooth skin, here are some products to help you as we make our way through those hot Southern California days.

Neutrogena Deep Clean Invigorating Foaming Scrub: $6.99

This foaming scrub has microbeads in it. It’s perfect to start the day because it will wake up your skin while also feeling like it’s getting deep in your pores to clean you up.

Clinique Acne Solutions BB Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 40: $37.00

This helps fight any blemishes you may have, protects you from the sun, and offers some color to cover those blemishes and give you an overall great look. This is a perfect way to protect your skin from the sun while still using it as a beauty product.

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion: $5.00-$38.00 depending on the size, $26.00 is pictured

This product offers a very smooth moisturizing lotion that will make your skin soft and hydrated. I recommend moisturizing twice a day, once in the morning and once before bed.

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes: $6.99

At the end of the day, it’s crucial that you take your makeup off to keep overall skin health. These cleansing towelettes are perfect, and they can even remove water proof mascara! You can buy refill packs to continue to use the box it comes in. The towels not only take off your makeup, but it will also remove any excess oils and dirts. Although I wouldn’t recommend this as the only thing you do before bed, it is definitely a good step to take for your skin.

Clean & Clear Night Relaxing Deep Cleansing Face Wash: $5.49

This product not only winds you down and cleans off any daily build up, but it also has a great scent that will really relax you. If you have overall fairly dry skin, this may not be the product for you because it can dry your skin even more just because it’s used to dry the blemishes you already have. Because of this, I recommend that you moisturize after washing your face with this product so that you wake up in the morning with hydrated, healthy, and clear skin.

There are other things you can do as well to keep your skin hydrated and beautiful such as getting enough sleep and drinking enough water throughout the day. Follow these steps and your skin will look good, feel good, and not age faster than it should.
