If you’re anything like me who loves to find some of the best local spots for nightlife (and avoid a longer drive to LA when you can) then you’ve come to the right place. Here’s a few that I’ve compiled, all with different vibes, in the Thousand Oaks/Westlake Village area, and all of them no longer than about 10 minutes from campus.

4. Four Seasons Westlake Village

While I am biased in being a long-term Four Seasons customer, this is definitely one of Westlake’s hidden luxury gems. In addition to the hotel, the Four Seasons in Westlake offers various dining options that can be great for a fancier night out. One of my personal favorites is their main restaurant right past the lobby, Coin & Candor. With a beautiful and intimate ambience and delicious food from locally sourced ingredients, you are guaranteed satisfaction. The hotel also includes a weekend-only late night speakeasy, the Prosperous Penny, a social and sophisticated bar. Another highlight is their gourmet coffee bar, Stir, serving freshly-brewed coffee as well as juices and quick bites.

5. The Landing

The Landing Grill & Sushi Bar is beautifully located right on the lakeside in Westlake Village. With several surrounding restaurants as well, including Boccaccio’s, serving Italian delicacies, and Zin Bistro Americana, serving new American cuisine, there is so much to choose from here. These three restaurants sit right on the lake with gorgeous views and live music and entertainment on some evenings. Whether you’re coming here for a date, celebrating a special occasion, or with a group of friends, The Landing certainty offers a cozy atmosphere surrounded by nature and is known for its memorable dining experience.

6. Sunset Terrace

This restaurant and lounge in Thousand Oaks is another popular spot for the collegiate scene. With fresh cuisine, a sports bar, happy hours, and DJed events, Sunset Terrace has a relaxed ambience that will definitely have you running into familiar faces. Serving a California cuisine, you can find many options here for any time of the day, and a fun, more high-energy vibe in the evenings.

While I must say I too, can be a victim of gatekeeping some hidden gems at times, these are all great, local, and social spots with a variety of atmospheres that can definitely give you some memorable college nights out with your friends.
