As a senior at Royal High School in Simi Valley, Elaine knew Cal Lutheran was her top choice. A great aspect of CLU, for Elaine, was the opportunity she had to play water polo for the school team. She had played water polo for over nine years, so it was a big part of her life. When she committed to CLU, she was afforded the chance to play water polo at the university.
Elaine was able to play her freshman year at CLU but then unfortunately tore a ligament in her shoulder which resulted in her having to leave the team. Although upset about having to leave the sport she loved, Elaine had more time to commit to her job, studies, and to Her Campus.
Elaine loves being at CLU and knows she will be staying for all 4 years and graduating in May of 2018. Her favorite thing about the university is the kindness of all the people she interacts with. She enjoys how she can always find someone who is willing to go out and do something fun or attend fun classes on campus like yoga.
As a commuter, Elaine has a completely different experience of Cal Lutheran. She acknowledges how some people “feel bad for commuters.” However, many people who live on campus offer their room to her when she has a huge gap in the middle of her day, or when she’s exhausted after late classes. Through this she has been able to find extremely nice and caring friends whom she can count on for anything.
When she isn’t busy with her job at Paragon Products, Her Campus, or her classes, you can find Elaine singing and playing guitar. Sadly, she doesn’t have a YouTube channel yet but with the encouragement of her friends she’ll hopefully start one soon. She does have a Soundcloud and Twitter where she posts covers (links below)!
Although she has a job she enjoys in the accounting department at Paragon Products, in the future she wants to go into something a little different. She would love to get an internship at Disney and eventually go into Event Planning for the company. With the dedication, talent, and work ethic she has it won’t be a surprise when she makes this dream a reality.
