In honor of International Women’s Day taking place last week, I wanted this article to be all about thanking my mom. The woman I look up to the most and the one I strive to be like. Here are some reasons I want to say gracias mamá (thank you mom).

Gracias mamá for your warm chicken soup when I get sick

Gracias mamá for the hot lunches you’d make me every day throughout all of elementary school

Gracias mamá for turning me into a clean freak

Gracias mamá for the shopping sprees

Gracias mamá for being a good cop and letting me go out despite what dad says

Gracias mamá for being my biggest fan and supporting my crazy ideas

Gracias mamá for letting me cry in your arms

Gracias mamá for the hugs that piece me back together when I break apart

Gracias mamá for the words of encouragement you give me when I feel like giving up

Gracias mamá for praying over me every day

Gracias mamá for being so strong despite all the roadblocks put in front of you.

These are just a few reasons why I want to say thank you to my mom. I could go on forever. I know the world might not know who my mom is, but to me, she is my world.

My name is Wendy and I am a Sociology and Spanish major at California Lutheran University. I have lived in Ventura County all my life, making me a huge fan of the beach. I love to read on my down time, spend time with friends and workout. My love for writing began during quarantine where I found it to be a great way to express myself! I hope you enjoy my articles!
