Festival season is kicking off, and creating a checklist is one of the biggest parts of preparation one can do. Whether you’re an enthusiastic camper or not, there are some essential items that are important to bring if you want to enhance your festival experience as much as possible.
Her Campus Cal Lutheran has gathered a list of items that will make your festival life a whole lot easier:
Â
1. Wetwipes, wetwipes and more wetwipes
Babywipes, makeup removers, shower wipes: you name it. Festival showers can get pretty crowded, and you’ll end up spending precious time standing in line that you could otherwise spend hanging out at the campsite or checking out your favorite artist.
2. Bring your own food
Festival food can get pretty expensive, so if you’re looking to save a few bucks we suggest you bring enough food for at least a couple of meals at the campsite. Make sure you bring dry foods or foods that don’t melt and don’t require refrigeration.
3. Coolers and ice
It can get pretty hot during the day, so being able to have a nice, cold drink between the punches can do wonders for you. Coolers are also good if you do decide to bring food that needs to stay cool.
4. Water and drinks with added electrolytes
We cannot stress this enough. Face it: you will be sweating–a lot. Staying hydrated is the most important thing you need to do at any time during the festival. Buying drinks like Pedialyte that have added electrolytes is also a good way to stay hydrated during the day because they play a key role in balancing the water you have in your body.
5. Portable phone charger
Your phone will die; and it will happen quickly. You don’t want to be in the middle of the crowd during your favorite artist’s performance and not be able to document every second of it. Just remember to charge the charger before you leave!
6. Extra car keys
If, God forbid, you would lose you car keys while at the festival, it is comforting to know that you’re not stranded. Bringing an extra key and leaving it with a friend or somewhere safe that is obviously not in your car should be a priority.
7. Head lamp
It gets dark at night. To avoid spending 30 minutes roaming your car for your toothbrush, we suggest you bring a head lamp to assist with locating specific items amongst the mess.
8. Hand sanitizer and extra toilet paper
For the most part, you will be using outdoor or portable toilets, and there is a high chance that there will be many bathroom trips that will not allow you to follow standard hygiene procedures. You will also most likely experience a portable toilet out of either toilet paper or hand sanitizer (or worst-case scenario, both.) Be proactive and bring your own stuff. Besides, like that you can use the kind you prefer. It’ll be worth it.
9. First Aid Kit
Hope for the best, but always be prepared for the worst. In case of emergency, bring a little kit with band-aids, painkillers, bandages, disinfecting wipes, etc.
10. Earplugs
Not everyone goes to bed at the same time, and things can continue into the late hours and get pretty loud. Using earplugs is great especially if you are the one that goes to bed earlier than the rest. It is also good to have if you want to protect your ears while at concerts.
11. Canopies
If you are camping on the festival grounds, you want to protect yourself from the sun as much as possible. Setting up canopies is a great way to provide some shade and it make things a little bit cozier.
