Because of COVID-19, it’s a lot harder to socialize with our friends. Parties, get-togethers, and gatherings are all significantly more dangerous to do in-person. However, video games are a great way to keep the party going virtually and stay connected with your best friends!

Here is a list of multiplayer video games to help you have fun and stay in touch with your friends virtually!

Among Us

Although originally released in 2018, Among Us has gained recent popularity by word-of-mouth, social media, and its overall quarantine-friendliness. It is a space-themed, murder mystery video game available for free on mobile (with advertisements and less customizable features) and $4.99 on Steam. It is especially fun to play with friends if you’re down for a night of finger-pointing and social deduction!

Use Your Words

Use Your Words is a fun party game where only one person needs to own it and screen share it with the rest of the group. Packed with four different hilarious wordy mini-games where you can complete sentences and add subtitles to film scenes, Use Your Words is the perfect video game if you want to laugh and have a good time! It is currently available on Steam for $14.99.

Skribbl.io

Skribbl.io is a free web browser game similar to the board game Pictionary. Draw and guess the different prompts with your friends in a charade-like manner but through art! The best part is that there is no download or purchase necessary, just type Skribbl.io in your browser! This game is perfect for a quick night of free gaming with friends.

Tabletop Simulator

Interested in playing the board game Pictionary? Or how about a game of Catan, Monopoly, or classic chess? Tabletop Simulator is perfect for board game lovers looking to play in a virtual format. It is currently $19.99 on Steam, with nearly every tabletop game being available for free to add through the Steam Workshop.

Pretend You’re Xyzzy

Want to play a game of Cards Against Humanity, but don’t have enough money for Tabletop Simulator? Pretend You’re Xyzzy is a great free web browser card game that uses the same card decks as Cards Against Humanity. This game is perfect for a night of laughs!

The Jackbox Party Packs

The Jackbox Party Packs are quite similar to Use Your Words but have a lot more mini-games packed into each pack. Each pack has hilarious mini-games such as Fibbage, Quiplash, and Trivia Murder Party. The price of each pack varies, so choose which one you like based on the mini-game descriptions! This game is perfect for some classic party game fun.

Despite social-distancing, there are a ton of ways to stay connected with your best friends. Video games are a great way to stay connected while also having fun in the process! Remember to stay healthy and game on.
