5 Things I Learned About Raising A “Bug”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Lutheran chapter.

This is Pugasus. He’s a two-year-old “Bug” (half Boston Terrier/half Pug) and this little bundle of joy brings so much sunshine into my life. He’s taught me a lot about patience, love, and how to guard my food. Here’s a mini list of things I’ve learned since Pugasus entered my life.

1.YOUR FOOD IS NEVER SAFE Whether you leave French fries on your desk or a few slices of pizza on the table, there’s always someone watching you. Always.

2. PEOPLE WILL USE ANY OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE A PHOTO WITH HIM/HER Seriously. Their cuteness is infectious with everyone. No matter what the situation. It’s kind of ridiculous, but also makes you feel pretty special as a “pet parent”.

3. THEY HAVE MASTERED THE ART OF THE “PHOTOBOMB” If they feel ignored or like you don’t care, don’t be surprised if your next selfie features a third furry friend. It isn’t easy to crop them out, either…

4. SIDE EYE IS DEFINITELY A “THING” Whether you’re disciplining them or talking ridiculous “baby talk” to him or her, 10 times out of 10, you’ll get this look, which basically says, “Really, man? Can you like… not?”

5. THEY ARE ACTUALLY THE BEST CUDDLERS They will always keep you safe and warm, and bring your spirits up if you’re sad, which makes naps and Netflix binge-watching sessions so much better.

These are just some things I have learned in the last two years, but one things for certain: life is much happier (and cuter) with Pugasus in it.
