26 Annoying Things Only CLU Students Understand

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Lutheran chapter.
While it’s undeniable that us Cal Lutheran students love our campus, community, peers, and faculty alike, we can’t deny that there are a few annoying things that come with being a Cal Lutheran student. Luckily, these things are what bring us together and makes us a family of Kingsmen and Regals.

1. The fact that campus is completely empty on the weekends.

2. The downside of not sharing a bathroom with your floor: running out of toilet paper and having to buy your own.

3. 23 and a half hours of quiet hours during finals week freshman year.

4. Commuter parking.

5. Centrum being nearly out of everything all the time.

6. Still having paint in your hair from the “Painting the Rocks” paint war… freshman year.

7. Having the normal line being shorter than the Tapingo at Jamba Juice.

8. Wanting to eat past 8pm.

9. There is nothing to do in Thousand Oaks past 9pm.

10. Almost being run over while trying to cross from the Flagpole to the Commons.

11. The line at Starbucks during chapel break.

12. People trying to get you to sign up for things on The Spine.

13. Trying to register for classes…and having the class you want only offered one semester a year.

14. Having to change our Blackboard password every 180 days.

15. Judgemental stares from your professor when you walk out of class and walk back in with Jamba Juice from Tapingo.

16. Wanting to buy a cute bike to ride to class, but not having any reason to get one because classes are 10 minutes walk away.

17. When your dorm randomly runs out of just hot or just cold water.

18. Having two mascots instead of one…

19. Wanting to fall asleep in class but the class sizes are so small that there’s no way to hide.

20. Trying to get from one side of the Swenson center to the other without having to go outside or upstairs.

21. The fact that 3 Amigos does not take our meal plan.

22. Getting one of the latest times in suite selection.

23. The 2am rule. And that commuter ID cards don’t let you into residence halls.

24. Being stampeded once the doors open for Improv (even if you showed up an hour and a half early).

25. Having to go all the way to the library to print anything.

26. Running into everybody you’ve met since Freshman year at Borderline on Wednesday nights.

Despite everything listed above, we really do love our school and all its little quirks. We wouldn’t change it for the world.
