Ding!

The world is in the palm of your hand.

Why bother going outside and face the day

When the outside is not out there anyway

Ding, ding!

Ding!

The family calls to play in the woods to see

What the Lost Boys and Peter Pan are up to today,

But they are all attracted lights on the screens.

Ding, ding!

Ding!

Why find love in person

When algorithms will do it for you?

Just swipe a thousand times for the person for your dreams

Ding, ding!

Ding!

Why imagine what could be when others can do it for you.

Just call up YouTube to give you “original ideas”

And Twitter will teach you the lessons of human morals.

Ding, ding!

Ding!

You can’t help to look.

You just HAVE to know what happened in the past five minutes

Because the news lets us know what changed in the past five minutes.

Ding, ding!

Ding!

Sorrows of the world are more overwhelming than ever

And none can escape with being attached by our pockets, wrists, and ears.

Ding, ding!!

Ding!

Doctors used to only say two hours a day or you’ll hurt your eyes…

Now the pandemic makes the light more needed that ever.

Earth is going virtual!!

Ding, ding!!

Ding, ding, ding!

Welcome to ScreenWorld where there’s no choice

But to look. You never escape no matter how hard you try.

Sooner or later, you have to start at the light and freeze.

We control the Earth now, and you will only need us more.
