Charleston Man-of-War: The First U.S. International Football Organization

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at C of C chapter.

Calling all football lovers! Charleston Man-of-War is our lovely city of Charleston’s new and upcoming international football team. Not only is Charleston Man-of-War this city’s first international football team, but it is also the first ever U.S. international football organization. CMOW is a completely start from scratch, grass-roots movement that represents the entire Lowcountry. This means that CMOW is totally community based, and that it relies on volunteers to help come together and celebrate their love of football by contributing.

Community is a primary concept that CMOW is built on. In fact, the signature hand sign of the Charleston Man-of-War organization is a “C”, which represents community, competition, and Charleston Man-of-War. CMOW also places great importance on giving back to the community. The number one charity of CMOW currently is the Shaw Community Center, where they hope to donate continuously and more as the organization grows. In order to make CMOW grow and succeed, there needs to be a strong and supportive team behind it.

CMOW is quickly preparing for their first game against Beijing, China’s “Beijing Guardians” on July 4, 2014. Staff members and interns are currently needed to help out and support the organization to get ready for the event.  Combines are being held periodically for training purposes to recruit the potential players of the CMOW football team. Also, dancers with a background in Jazz and Hip-Hop are wanted for the Charleston Man-of-War All Star Dance Team. Tryouts for the dance team will be held on September 7, 2013 at 10a.m. in Marion Square. Charleston Man-of-War is a rapidly growing organization founded on love of football, community, and friendship. Now is your chance to be a part of the organization that will change Charleston forever.
