Where to Find your Internship this Summer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bucknell chapter.

By the end of the semester it feels as though almost everyone we know has some sort of job, internship, shadowing, etc. lined up for the summer. Where does everyone find these places to apply? How do you get an interview for something you’re genuinely interested in? Also, how do you get PAID??? Below are just a handful of resources and tools that can be utilized by just about anyone.

Handshake:

Handshake is an awesome resource to put in your interests, skills, and then potential employers can reach out to you directly!

LinkedIn:

https://www.linkedin.com/

Most people are aware of this resource already, but in case you’re not, LinkedIn is an amazing tool for someone to start building a brand for themselves in the professional world– or for stalking your significant other’s ex… you choose.

REU:

A super underutilized resource for anyone interested in getting hands-on undergraduate research (most of which are paid for by the National Science Foundation). Essentially someone can type in “biology REU” into their search engine and it will come up with HUNDREDS… I mean HUNDREDS, of universities that are holding summer internships for students looking to conduct research.

Glassdoor:

Essentially another version of LinkedIn but for smaller companies that may not always have paid opportunities. Even if you have Handshake or LinkedIn, the broader the net casted, the more results you’ll get!

Indeed:

https://www.indeed.com/

Another resource for coming up with internships and or jobs in your areas of interest and geographic location– this is another amazing tool to have in the toolbox.

Bucknell Career Center:

Get in touch with a career counselor and they will certainly have as much information as you could want, plus they are basically another version of this article.
