‘Tis the Season in and Around the ‘Burg

Baby, it may be getting cold outside, but with chilly temperatures comes the spirit and warmth of the holiday season. Kick-start this festive time of year with some of the many upcoming events in the Susquehanna Valley area. With these fun, festive occasions happening in and around Lewisburg, you won’t even mind the seasonal soundtracks taking over your radio. 

Victorian Holiday Weekend in Lewisburg 

Hit the ground running after Thanksgiving break and attend the Victorian Holiday Weekend right here in Downtown Lewisburg! Kicking off the celebration is a tree-lighting ceremony in Hufnagle Park on Thursday, December 3rd. After checking out the beautifully lit tree, head on down to the shops of downtown Lewisburg for a Late Shopper’s Night on Friday, December 4th. Grab your friends, take a break from your schoolwork, and enjoy the festive decorations of Market Street!

Mifflinburg Christkindl Market

Downtown Mifflinburg will be the place to be starting December 10th with the opening of the 27th annual Christkindl Market. Inspired by the 700-year-old traditional German Christmas market, Mifflinburg’s Market Street will come alive with various festive vendors. From mouth-watering German food and craft booths to carriage rides and holiday decorations, this is an event you won’t want to miss. Selinsgrove’s 5K Santa Sprint 

Get in shape and feel the burn as the holiday season begins with the first annual Santa Sprint in Selinsgrove on December 5th. Don’t worry about planning your outfit for this 5K, because race attire consists of your best Santa costume. Whether or not you are up for the 5K fitness challenge, come out to listen to some holiday tunes from local bands and enjoy the views of the scenic Susquehanna as you cheer on the herd of Santas.

Shamokin Dam Holiday Festival 

Head over to Shamokin Dam on Saturday, December 5th to check out the quaint Holiday Street Festival. With trolley rides and various outdoor huts, you can get started on your holiday shopping early this year. Go warm up on a chilly, December afternoon with some hot chocolate as you stroll down Independence Street in Shamokin Dam. 

Bloomsburg’s TreeFest 

What better way to get to into the spirit of the holidays than with the sights and smells of over 100 decorated Christmas trees? At TreeFest 2015, various Bloomsburg florists, youth groups, teams, and organizations have taken on the task of decorating these 100 Christmas trees for you to enjoy. With each tree being sponsored by a local business or organization, a wonderful, community element is tied to this holiday event.
