Steve Aoki & AJR: 10 Things You Need to Know

Bucknell University’s Concert Committee announced that EDM musician and DJ Steve Aoki will be coming to campus on Friday, September 28, along with special guest AJR (tickets can be purchased here: https://bucknell.universitytickets.com/w/event.aspx?id=1941&r=a87e684d8d054fd295b6f8b8be26d647).

Steve Aoki is a man of many talents, and AJR has already managed to make massive waves within the indie-pop music scene. Here are 10 things you should know about the two acts.

1. Steve Aoki started playing chess at age four and was once ranked amongst the top 250 chess players in the world.

2. Steve runs his own clothing line called The Dim Mak Collection.

3. Aoki got the idea to throw cake at people after watching the video of ‘Turn Up The Volume’ by Autoerotique. 4. He has his own charity that raises money throughout the year called the AOKI Foundation.

5. He holds two Guinness World records: for having the longest audience cheer, and for having an audience show the largest number of glow sticks in 30 seconds.

6. Aoki attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, and graduated with degrees in Feminist Studies and Sociology.

7. His father founded the first Benihana restaurant in New York City, back in 1965.

8. The three members of AJR are brothers, and the name “AJR” comes from the first initials of Adam, Jack, and Ryan.

9. AJR writes, records and produces all of their own music from the living room of their NYC apartment.

10. Pop icon Sia discovered the band on Twitter.
