This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bucknell chapter.

Joe Willmanis a junior from Tinton Falls, New Jersey. This medicine major is a forward for the men’s basketball team. After making his start playing with a Fischer Price Hoop, Willman has become a forward for the Bucknell Men’s Basketball team and has aspirations to continue playing after he graduates.

Was Bucknell your first choice? Were you recruited?
Joe: Yes it was my first choice and basketball did play a big role in my decision. I was recruited.

What was the process like? Were they persistent?
Joe: It was really important. The coaches stayed persistent, keeping in touch when they could and watching me play a lot. It had a big impact on my decision.

How do you find the student-athlete life to be?
Joe: It’s good! Bucknell’s a good place for student-athletes because a lot of people here are student-athletes. It’s a lot to juggle with the great academics of the school and the strong athletics.

How do you prepare for a game? Rituals?
Joe: We do pregame meals as a team, and I listen to music while I’m walking over to the gym (usually Big L).

Most memorable moment/game?
Joe: Winning the patriot league championships last year!

What motivates you?
Joe: The love of the game. We succeed for each other because we have good team chemistry. Everyone wants to succeed, and we want to do it together.

How did you first begin playing basketball?
Joe: I used to have a little Fischer Price hoop in my house in my basement. I used to always play on that. Then I started travel basketball when I was 8 years old. My dad always played basketball so he got me into it, and my mom did too.

What do you find most difficult/ most satisfying?
Joe: The most difficult part is trying not to mess up for your team. The most satisfying part is winning and seeing how happy everyone is.

And the questions you were hoping we would ask…

Are you single?
Joe: Yes

Any celebrity crush?
Joe: Sofia Vergara

What do you look for/like in a girl?
Joe: I like a girl who is laid back, because I’m pretty laid back.

What don’t you like in a girl?
Joe: I’m laid back so I don’t like a girl who’s, to say it bluntly, too needy.

What are some other hobbies/sports/interests?
Joe: I like going to the beach a lot in the summer, hanging out with friends, and watching football. Football’s a great sport, especially since the Giants just won the Superbowl.

What are three words that describe you as a boyfriend
Joe:Gentleman, caring, surprising
