A Her Campus Guide: Jumping into Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bucknell chapter.

After a long and brutally hot summer, the fact that autumn is right around the corner is definitely exciting news. Already, the leaves have slowly begun to change colors, and Lewisburg will soon be enveloped in beautiful bright red and yellow hues. The days will become brisk, calling for those sweaters and jeans to be broken out of the closet. Of course, Starbuck’s advertisements for the renowned Pumpkin Spice Latte is the most classic tell-tale sign that fall is near. To celebrate the coming of this glorious season, here are some fun ways to delve into the fall spirit!

Stock up on the trends.

According to Elle magazine, red is the “it” color this fall. What better way to prepare for the season than dressing up to match the fall foliage?! Whether it’s a pair of burgundy jeans, or a comfy scarlet sweater, red is certainly the way to go. Fringe and fur are also must-haves for your fall wardrobe. You can rock these in small accessories, like the fringe choker pictured below, or you can go all out in a fun fur vest! (Faux-fur works too!)

Decorate your room.

Nothing screams fall like pumpkins. You can stock up on these adorable mini pumpkins from the nearby supermarket or Ard’s farm. Looking for a fun and easy craft to do? Draw or paint on the pumpkins for some added pizzazz. They look super festive sitting along your windowsill, or on top of your desk. You can also spice up your room with a fun leaf garland. It’s all about having fun with it; the more creative you get, the more inviting your room will be! And while lit candles aren’t allowed in dorms, these scented air fresheners will have your room smelling like a cozy autumn day.

Partake in some ~classic~ fall activities.

Even as a college student, you are never too old to enjoy the fun that the season brings. As I mentioned previously, Ard’s farm is a great place to pick some fresh pumpkins. It’s super close to campus, and you’ll find yourself hopping on a hayride, and stocking up on some delicious fresh apple cider. If over fall break you’re returning home, grab some friends and go to the farm nearest to you! Halloween is also rapidly approaching. Take some time to browse costumes online, or make a fun trip out if it! You don’t need to break the bank to get some awesome accessories that complete an epic homemade costume. Finally, don’t forget to have yourself a Halloween movie marathon! While Halloweentown is a personal favorite, there are tons of cheesy movies to watch that will have you feeling nostalgic AF.

Now that you are prepared for the fall, get ready to have the best season yet. And soon enough, we’ll be getting you ready for winter the Her Campus way…
