It’s finally starting to feel like fall! And even though it can be sad to see the summer weather go, there are plenty of things to look forward to about the fall season—the colors in the leaves are gorgeous, the air is crisp, and there are pumpkins everywhere. Of course, it has to stop raining for more than two days, but when that finally happens, there’s no reason to not take advantage of the beautiful October weather! And in the Bucknell area, there’s no better place to enjoy fall than at Ard’s Farm.
Ard’s is a favorite for a lot of Bucknellians because of it has delicious food, especially the BBQ—yum! Going to get a great meal is alone a good enough reason to drive down to visit Ard’s. But once the fall season begins, there are so many reasons to love Ard’s even more.
- First and foremost, of course, is the giant Corn Maze—it’s five acres! Ard’s Farm is famous for this challenge, which is open through October 30th. The maze is known for being especially large and difficult, and even the smartest can get stuck in its twists and dead-ends, but don’t let that stop you! And, if you’re especially daring, you can try to complete the maze at night in the dark—but bring a flashlight! Also, this year is the 20th anniversary of Ard’s Corn Maze, which makes it even more important that you check it out. Of course, if the size is intimidating, you can always try the Kid’s Maze. It’s still tricky, but just a much smaller version!
- And then there are the hayrides! Whether you’re recalling childhood pumpkin-picking memories, or you want to make some new ones for yourself, a hayride to the pumpkin patch is a great way to spend a fall afternoon. Relax with some girlfriends, enjoy the weather and the scenery, and grab a pumpkin of course. Hayrides also go until October 30th, and are only $5 per person—and this includes the pumpkin! And while you’re probably not going to actually carve them, pumpkins are a fun and simple way to add a little fall spirit to your dorm room.
- If the hayride isn’t for you, but you still want to add some fall character to your room, then Ard’s can help with that too. There are plenty of pre-picked pumpkins for sale, all grown right at Ard’s Farm. Gourds are also for sale as well—true, they can be funny looking, but they can also be cute! Finally, fall means Mums as well, and who doesn’t love those beautiful flowers? They’re a great way to brighten up any room!
All in all, Ard’s Farm is just a great place to spend a fall afternoon. Besides these activities there are also animals to pet if you feel like channeling your inner child and a hotdog roast if you’re looking for a lighter meal. There’s lots of energy and fun, food and laughter. So, go and check it out! It’s a great way to get away from the stress and hassle of Bucknell work and classes, and there’s no better way to experience all the best parts of fall all in one place. Corn mazes, pumpkins, food—Ard’s really does have it all! So don’t pass up the chance to have a great afternoon doing all the fun activities fall is known for. Pretty soon, the season will fade away to bitter winter, so get in all your fall fun at Ard’s Farm while you still can!
