Denim-on-demin: a fashion disaster turned style goal… maybe? Just like most recent trends, no one is really sure how to make this look work quite yet. So, dug deeper into how to make this historical faux-pas workable, and how to not end up looking like this:

First off, countless credible sources Buzzfeed articles agree on one golden rule of denim-on-denim. This is how to guarantee a shot at making your ensemble on point.

Mix it up.

This is paraphrased for a reason – there are many ways to follow this crucial guideline. Here are some helpful tips:

Play with color

If you want to start out easy, mix and match different shades of denim. White jeans and a blue jean shirt? Simple yet chic… and it still counts!

Break it up

A great way to ease into the world of denim-on-denim is to actually put something in between the denim and, well, the denim. A simple tee shirt or sweater does the trick!

All denim (almost) everything

If you’re not feeling too creative, just throw on a denim dress! A dress is as a whole outfit, right? Pairing it with a bold bag or some fun jewelry or shoes will spice up a look that could be bland otherwise.
