It is a struggle as it is to search for a cute outfit in the morning for school or work, but we all know the biggest obstacle is finding an outfit for dates, especially your first one! Dating is hard. We all know there is a lot of stress on what you decide to wear on a date because the attention is all on you and nobody else. Not to mention the actual pressure there is to even manage to get a date, but when you do, the real anxiety begins. You worry if you are going to run out of things to talk about, if he is rude, if he doesn’t seem interested, but, most importantly, what you are going to wear.

First Date

When you are going on your first date, you don’t want to seem like you are too available, but, you don’t want to seem like you are boring either. Find a medium. It also depends on what you are actually doing on your first date. If you are starting off with something casual, do not overdo it by getting dolled up as if you are going to a ball. For instance, a perfect example of a casual first date would be:

A dress, flats and an added accessory, like a scarf. Here, you aren’t showing too much on the first date or trying to hard, but, you still look hot.

SHOES: Old Navy, $14.00; DRESS: Forever 21, $10.00

If your first date is something a little bit fancier, like a dinner date, do not be afraid to put on a little heel and get a bit more dressed up! However, if you are worried and only have a few minutes left before you have to leave, remember that you can never go wrong with wearing black.

SHORTS: Aqua, $68.00; SHIRT: Lulus.com, $37.00; CLUTCH: Macys, $26.98

Second Date

You know he likes you enough to ask you out on a second date, so now you can calm down a little. However, keep in mind that you still want to keep him interested. Wear something a little bit bolder than your last outfit, but do not go overboard. If you wore shorts or a skirt last date, switch it up and wear pants with a cute blouse.

WHITE PANTS: Flying Monkey, $24.99; LEATHER PANTS/LEGGINGS: H&M, $34.95

Meeting the Parents

If you do make it far enough to meet the parents, remember, this is about meeting his parents, not about you. You are basically going on a date with his parents, not him. You want to dress as if you are going to a nice family party. This date is all about conversation and first impressions, so, you do not want to give his parents a wrong impression of you.

Here are two great examples of outfits to meet the parents. On the left is an outfit that you can wear in the winter / fall and even style with boots. On the right is a cute outfit with a high neckline you could wear in the spring and summer.

Here is where you can get these types of outfits:

TOBI, $58.00; FRANCESCA’S, $48.00

Once you make it past the parents take a deep breath. From here on out, picking out an outfit will become easier for you. You now know each other well enough that choosing an outfit shouldn’t be so much of an issue.
