Everyone loves to eat endless amounts of amazing food at Thanksgiving dinner and it’s all great, until we wake up the next morning, can barely move and feel like a stuffed sausage. We all get that classic day after Thanksgiving food coma. No need to be ashamed, look at it as a triumph – you did Thanksgiving and you did it well! While this may not be the most comfortable feeling, here are a few suggestions on how to help deal with this food coma and make the most of your Friday:
Go on a Walk
We only have such limited time left before it will be way too cold to enjoy a nice walk through town or the woods, so grab your dog, friends or family and get outside! Going on a leisurely walk, or if your feeling ambitious, a nice jog is a great way to fight your food coma because exercise helps assist digestion. Not only will you begin to feel better but it’s also a great time to catch up with your friends and family.
Get an Early Start on Your Holiday Shopping
What better way to fight a food coma then doing the one thing we all love so much – shopping! This is a great way to motivate yourself to get up and get moving. Just a precaution – it might not be the best day to head to your favorite store and try on new jeans or worse, a new bathing suite! But it is a great day to get started on your holiday shopping, in which case you get to avoid the fitting room and take advantage of Black Friday’s great deals.
Donate
The last thing you want to think about after Thanksgiving is eating anymore food so instead of throwing out Grandma’s leftover stuffing bring your leftovers to a local homeless shelter. Many people were not fortunate enough to have a Thanksgiving meal so why not donate your leftovers or even stop at your local grocery store and pick up a few things to bring to those less fortunate. While you’re at it, go through your closet today and donate your old winter clothes. It won’t take long, and it is a great way to take your mind off of your aching stomach.
Just Hang Out
Take this day to relax and hang out at home with friends and family. Your food coma is probably making you feel a bit immobile and everyone has been so busy at school, so take this day to recover and catch up on some sleep. Lie in bed all day, read, watch some Netflix or shop online because Cyber Monday is just a few days away and you obviously must prepare. Nothing is better than doing nothing, and what better excuse than a Thanksgiving food coma to do just that?
