Why Everyone Should be Watching “Ratched” Right Now

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

While the next season of American Horror Story isn’t set to air until 2021, there is a way to fill the mystery series void during the beginning of spooky season—Ratched!

This brand-new series aired on Netflix last week and is already at the top spot on the U.S. Top 10 watch list. This series has everything you need in a spooky pre-Halloween watch: guts, gore, and a whole lot more.

While only the first season has been released, I am really hoping for a second because of the amazing cliffhanger ending. The main character, played by Sarah Paulson (a STAR of American Horror Story), goes through the bizarre and insane workings of the lobotomy. She works in a mental health facility during a time period when people were treated with bizarre methods in order to “cure” them of their illnesses.

The season packs a punch for only eight episodes. There are so many twists and turns and cliffhangers that it constantly keeps you on the edge of your seat. While this season is a must-watch for me right now, I must warn that it is not for the faint of heart—there are many scenes where I have to turn my head away.

I am trying so hard to not spoil anything with this review, but if you are looking for a show that is interesting in its content and has the scares for the season, then Ratched is most definitely for you!
