The Ultimate November Playlist

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

The weekend is the perfect time to sit back, relax, and listen to some awesome tunes. By adding a few songs to your playlist each weekend, you will leave the month of November with the ultimate playlist that you can’t help but dance and sing along to. I hope you get lost in the music because before you know it, you will take your earbuds out and find that Thanksgiving is here! All we need is a little distraction that can follow us anywhere.

Be sure to follow my Spotify account @Lrcoop0008 and check out all these songs on the Spotify playlist I created: Her Campus: Ultimate November Playlist.

Weekend #1

Saturday: Fake Love by Cemetery Sun

This might sound strange, but it’s the kind of song you can’t help but bob your head to. You will learn the lyrics quickly and start singing at full volume in your dorm room. Hopefully your floormates will join in on this upbeat song!

Sunday: Lay It On Me by Vance Joy

It’s that song that will put you in a good mood. It’s upbeat and chill at the same time, which I feel is an appropriate description for Vance Joy in general. I have had this song on repeat all day everyday for the past week so I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Weekend #2

Saturday: Start Again by Conrad Sewell

I can’t help but feel nostalgic while listening to this song. It’s the kind of music that allows you to just sit back and think about life. I even feel a little sad while listening to this music, so if you’re looking for a song to dance to, hit the “Next” button.

Sunday: Cleopatra by The Lumineers

The Lumineers have such a unique sound, so this song is no exception. I would describe this song, in particular, as road trip music. It’s not the road trip song that will make you open the car windows and scream the lyrics, but it puts you in a relaxing mood. The song puts you in a mood that allows you to sit back and enjoy the moment.

Weekend #3

Saturday: Neon by Thomas Hayes

If you watch the Norwegian TV Show, Skam, you will know Thomas Hayes as William. He is also a DJ and when I found this song I could not stop listening to it. You definitely need to get out of your seat and start dancing to it!

Sunday: Pork Soda by Glass Animals

Even I have to admit, the song name, song lyrics, and band name are all a little strange. But do not let it deter you from this amazing piece of music. It’s both a chill and upbeat song that puts you in a beautiful state of mind. If you’ve seen The Perks of Being a Wallflower, you might agree that this song makes you feel “infinite,” as Charlie said in the movie.

Weekend #4

Saturday: Palm Trees by SWMRS

I’m not going to lie, this song is for the angsty teen that needs to listen to a little bit of screaming. It’s definitely not heavy metal, but you should give it a chance when you’re a little stressed from all your work. This song might just be what you need when you have to let out some anger but you have roommates or classmates around.

Sunday: Feel It Still by Portugal. The Man

Every time I hear this song I think of my mom because we would always blast it in the car and sing it at the top of our lungs. Get up, grab your friends, and dance around the room to this cool beat.

Weekend #5

Saturday: Anna Sun by WALK THE MOON

The main lyrics in this song are “this house is falling apart,” which is relatable for us college students. I feel like even though your life is stressful, hard, or falling apart, we can all still get up, dance, and enjoy the moment.

Sunday: Black Out Days by Phantogram

This artist and song are both very unique. I love the mood and tone of this song in particular, although other songs by Phantogram are also amazing.

Thanksgiving will be here before you know it, but for now, keep studying, have some fun, and listen to some awesome tunes!
