Podcasts to Listen to on the Daily

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

If you’re like me, then you live with headphones on. From walking to class to studying, music is always a key part of the day. But, when the same songs or playlists seem a little played out, it’s always good to try something new. Podcasts have become the newest alternative of auditory entertainment and have proven to be easy to listen to and to learn from. If you’re not sure which podcasts would interest you most, here are a few favorites in my daily soundtrack.

1. “The Daily”

From The New York Times, The Daily brings journalistic stories about anything and everything. Staying updated with current events doesn’t have to be hard. There are many other popular political podcasts like “Pod Save America,” “Call Your Girlfriend,” and “FiveThirtyEight” to help you stay informed about what’s going on in the world.

2. “My Favorite Murder”

This is the first podcast I listened to and it is perfect for those slightly obsessed with crime and murder. Comedians Georgia Hardstark and Karen Kilgariff joke around while telling unknown and/or famed murder stories throughout history. Stay sexy and don’t get murdered.

3. “Girl Boss Radio with Sophia Amoruso”

Looking for inspiration? Sophia Amoruso, the founder of clothing company Nasty Gal, interviews influential women in power and business. Other shows on the radio also discuss self-care and career management help.

4. “Freakonomics Radio”

This one is a great listen if you just have curiosities about the world. Learning fundamentals behind ethics and economics can be fun!

5. “The Bitch Bible”

Okay, this one is a guilty pleasure, but also one of my top favorite podcasts. Jackie Schimmel shines by herself in her daily rants about everything Real Housewives and pop culture. This one is definitely feisty and will make you laugh out loud at her fearless hilarity.

Of course, there are tons of podcasts to pick and choose from. Hopefully, these choices will spark your next morning walk to class with political punditry or gossip about Ariana Grande’s new album. Go forth and give a listen!
