Listen to These Artists When You’re in Your Feels

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Ever just feeling sad and emotional? Maybe something happened, maybe you’re on your period, maybe you’re just sad for no reason. No matter what, your feelings are valid. Indulge in them by listening to these artists on repeat.

Dodie

Dodie makes music very personal to her. Because she started as a Youtuber, her fans have seen her journey from being this emotional young teenager to being a grown, mature adult. She’s a mental health advocate who always speaks her mind. She’s always changing as an artist. Her live shows make you reflect on dark times and realize you can make your way out of them.

Lorde

Even though she’s such a young musician, Lorde is someone to look up to. Her songs create some nostalgic feeling and make you miss something you might not even have experienced. Her songs are fun, pop-y, and dramatic. She has synesthesia, meaning she can see colors, which is something that translates to her music.

Gabrielle Aplin

Gabrielle is an English singer-songwriter who also found her fame through Youtube. Her music is soft and wholesome. She talks about love, home, and so much more.

Bruno Major

I can’t even describe Bruno Major’s song. Everything he releases never disappoints. His music is full of beautiful chords, vocals, and acoustics. His songs talk about friendship and love in such a beautiful way.

Sleeping At Last

Sleeping At Last is a musical project led by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ryan O’Neal. O’Neal is one of those artists who can make so much music and not one of the songs will be bad. Many of his albums or projects have a theme, which each song follows. For example, he did one on the Enneagram types, in which each song was the numbers. He also has ones on the months of the year, the elements of the earth, and so many more. His covers are amazing as well. Listening to his music is like following a journey, and getting to know each type of song in the album is so special.

These are the best artists to listen to while you’re emotional. Their songs are deep and meaningful and invoke so many emotions. Next time you’re in your feels, check out these artists.
