7 Affordable (and Effective) Skincare Items for When You’re Ballin’ on a Budget

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Everyone wants nice, healthy skin. With high-end moisturizers, serums, and masks sometimes costing several hundred dollars, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and spend too much money. However, great skincare doesn’t need to mean breaking your bank. Here are a few affordable (and super effective) skincare essentials:

1. PIXI Glow Tonic $15.00

This toner gently exfoliates & purifies your skin with Glycolic Acid & Ginseng. It removes dead skin cells, leaving fresh and radiant skin. And it smells incredible.

2. The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% $9.80

Kim Kardashian uses this to prevent wrinkles and keep her skin plump. Make sure to use SPF the morning after using this because your skin will be extra sensitive to sunlight.

3. Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser $9.49

This tried and true unscented, non-comedogenic, and non-irritating cleanser has no frills but effectively cleans your face of all impurities day and night.

4. Biore Self Heating One Minute Masks in Natural Charcoal $5.99

This Allure Best of Beauty winner is a quick and easy way to keep your skin looking and feeling fresh throughout the week. It also comes in single-use packets so there’s never any leftover mess.

5.  The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 $6.80

Hyaluronic Acid is a godsend for dry skin in the winter because of its natural hydrating and plumping abilities. Put it on with moisturizer to add an extra splash of hydration.

6. Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb The Antioxidant Super Moisturizer SPF 30 $17

This antioxidant-packed moisturizer is lightweight and has added UV protection for when you’re in a rush and don’t have time to put on sunblock.

7. Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay $8.95

Mix this bentonite clay with equal parts apple cider vinegar to create a quick and easy clay mask that removes dirt and impurities from your pores.

For the same price as a dinner out or a drink at a bar, you can add one of these great products to your daily skincare routine. Though these items are a small sampling of all the affordable skincare available on the market, they’re all proven effective and are loved by many.
