5 Netflix Movies You Should Watch This Thanksgiving Break

This break, whether you are home or still at school, you will find yourself with some well-needed down time. Thanksgiving break always comes at the perfect time, right after the grueling midterm season. Luckily, Netflix and other streaming platforms are equipped with some must-watch movies and TV shows. Here are 5 movies that will keep you busy on or around turkey day.

 

1.  Rumor Has It

In this movie, starring Jennifer Aniston, a girl named Sarah travels home to Pasadena, California, for her sister’s wedding. She discovers that her family is the inspiration behind the movie “The Graduate,” and her grandmother is in fact the real-life Mrs. Robinson. This comedy is the perfect movie to watch if you are looking to laugh and witness the drama of families aside from your own.

 

2.  How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is a truly a romantic comedy staple. Starring Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson, the movie follows a columnist on her newest expedition: getting a guy to fall in love with her, with even the craziest of behavior. But, little does she know that he is betting that he’ll also make her fall in love.

 

3. Julie & Julia

This heartfelt movie stars Meryl Streep and Amy Adams, telling the heartwarming story of Julia Child. It follows Julie Powell and her mission to spice up her life by cooking the 524 recipes of Julia Child’s cookbook. This drama is a feel-good film that will also make you hungry this Thanksgiving!

 

4. The Shining

If you are looking for something a bit more spooky, The Shining is a classic that you must watch. Starring Jack Nicholson, the movie follows a man named Jack Torrance and his family who are the caretakers at a mountain hotel for the off-season. The family becomes subject to the dark and terrorizing history of the hotel. This horror film is full of suspense and anticipation, perfect to watch with friends.  

 

5.  A Christmas Prince

If you are looking for a holiday movie to get you into the sprit of December, Netflix has got that covered: there is now a holiday tab on Netflix that features all the seasonal favorites. Probably the most popular Netflix Christmas movie last year was A Christmas Prince. This family-friendly romantic drama follows the journey of a young journalist on assignment and her discovery of a royal romance.
