I love pop because it is so versatile. Most pop songs are cheerful and easy to dance to, but some can also make you cry…not on purpose. Here are some underrated female pop artists you need to check out and add to your playlists.

Avery Lynch

Avery Lynch has some amazing and catchy songs all about love and growth. She has a few singles and EPs out but you can just tell how talented she is. She actually goes to college in Boston, which is a crazy coincidence.

Catie Turner

Catie Turner is amazing. You may recognize her from her quirky and original song performed to audition on American Idol. But since then, she has put out some amazing songs and is active on social media, occasionally posting covers on Youtube. She is so talented, both in singing and songwriting.

Claire Rosinkranz

You may recognize Claire Rosinkranz from the Tik Tok song “Backyard Boy.” That’s from her newest EP “BeVerly Hills BoYfRiEnD,” which includes all certified bops. Her songs are really poppy and funky, which I love. I can’t wait to see what kind of music she puts out in the future!

Charlotte Lawrence

Charlotte Lawrence is described as a “rising teen pop star with a dark edge.” She’s got a few breakout songs, even one that was featured in the Birds of Prey soundtrack. Most of her songs are upbeat but with dark lyrics.

Dodie

Dodie is my favorite artist of all time, especially since I’ve seen her grow on Youtube these past few years. Dodie is a very emotional person, which translates to her songs. Her music is soft and will get you in your feels, but she also has a bunch of fun songs to dance to.

Lennon Stella

Daughter of the singer-songwriter duo MaryLynne and Brad Stella, who perform as The Stellas, Lennon has been a musician from a young age. If you’re an OG Youtuber, you may remember her from her and her sister’s channel, Lennon & Maisy. They posted several covers that got millions of views. Now, Lennon Stella has grown as an independent artist, recently putting out a new album. All of her songs are absolutely amazing.

Lizzy McAlpine

Lizzy has put out two albums since 2018 and they’re both amazing. I’ve had her songs on repeat since discovering her. Her music is really chill and mostly about love and growth. She’s grown a lot as an artist since and I can’t wait to see more of her work. I believe she’s also going to college in Boston, which is crazy.

Maggie Rogers

Maggie Rogers is an absolute queen. She’s described as a singer/songwriting that “combines folk, dance and R&B into an emotional yet crowd-pleasing sound.” Her first major success came with 2016’s viral hit “Alaska,” which she wrote in 15 minutes about a hiking trip for a master class with Pharrell Williams. Pharrell was amazed by her work after hearing it. You can see the video online; it gave me goosebumps. Her music is so unique, I can’t even describe it. It literally will put you on another planet.

Olivia O’Brien

Olivia O’Brien is truly one of the current queens of pop right now. She’s been putting out music since she was 15 (you may know her from “i hate u i love u”) and now she’s 20. You can clearly see her growth both as a person and a singer/songwriter through her music. She always speaks/sings her honest truth and is a very raw and real person. She’s the kind of musician where you listen to her music, you’re like, “wow I hate all men and I deserve the best.” And I love it.

Sigrid

Last but not least, Sigrid is another amazing pop singer with such a unique sound that will take you to another world. All of her songs are so catchy and fun. According to Spotify, “Sigrid is undoubtedly set to continue her ascent with non-conformist and progressive attitudes to femininity in the pop landscape.”

I absolutely love all these pop singers. If you haven’t listened to these singers yet, you need to check them out. They deserve to be shown some more love and support!
