As the semester comes to an end, Google calendars everywhere are packed with projects, papers, and exams. I find that self-care practices become essential to maintain my spirits and heighten productivity during finals season. Here are the ways that I incorporate self-care into my daily routine to prepare my mind and body for increased academic work:
- Optimizing my written planner by setting attainable, mini goals
- Recognizing the importance of a good night’s sleep
- Creating calming study environments near natural light or with candles
- Planning activities & rewards for which to look forward throughout the mont
- Reading fiction or any other non-academic genre before bed to relax
- Staying hydrated & not relying too heavily on caffeine
- Turning off my electronics during a meal & being present while conversing with a friend
- Going outside either on a stroll around campus, an impromptu adventure to a nearby coffee shop, or walk to an errand destination
Stay well & good luck :)
