If you’re anything like me, any event from walking to class to grabbing coffee is a fashion show. I spend HOURS (and I mean hours) shopping online and in-stores, curating the perfect outfits, and accessorizing them to a tee. With college (and NFL) football season in full swing, here are my ideas for the perfect tailgate outfits:

Shop Hype and Vice

Hype and Vice is an online and in-store retailer that carries cuter-than-average college apparel. They are licensed with most major universities and have adorable gameday options. They carry Hype and Vice apparel in Brown’s bookstore, but you can also shop online. I would recommend pairing one of their cute crop tops with a pair of jeans or jean shorts for an effortless gameday look.

DIY Off-The-Shoulder Tee

If you’re scrambling for a cute look for the day of the game but your bookstore doesn’t have great options, I would recommend DIY-ing. I know DIY-ing (or doing it yourself) can seem intimidating, but there are tons of video tutorials on Youtube or Tiktok to help! For the Off-the-shoulder t-shirt look, pick out a regular crew neck t-shirt that is slightly oversized. Then, use sharp scissors to cut off the collar. Next, use your hands to manually stretch out the neckline. You may also want to crop it as well.

DIY Off-The-Shoulder Sweatshirt

If it’s chillier out where you are, it may be a better option to use a crewneck sweatshirt as opposed to a t-shirt. This is also a super cute and easy look that is better for the cold weather. Just use the same tutorial as above!

T-Shirt Dress

I’ve seen this look all over Tiktok, and I’m obsessed with it. Essentially, girls have been buying oversized t-shirts and turning them into tube dresses. The steps are surprisingly simple! Buy an oversized t-shirt at the bookstore (I recommend a men’s medium or large). Then, slip it on so that the neckline is right above your chest and the sleeves are below your arms. Next, tie the sleeves behind you to secure the dress. I love the idea of styling this with a jean jacket and cowboy boots.

Jersey

If you are a huge Alix Earle fan like me, you definitely saw (and loved) her look at the Miami Dolphins game. Essentially, Earle cut down the middle of Football Man’s (aka Braxton Berrios) jersey to give it a jacket-like feel. She styled it over a white corset top and with a pair of jean shorts. You could easily replicate this look with a jersey from the bookstore!

I am a member of the Brown Class of 2026, and I am planning to concentrate in history and economics. In my free time, I enjoy reading historical fiction novels, baking chocolate chip cookies, and trying new restaurants and cafes in Providence.
