Editor’s Letter: Merry Christmas!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bristol chapter.

It’s the final editor’s letter of this term and as we all go off to enjoy our holidays (and Christmas dinners), I just wanted to say a few words of thanks. Ella and I wrote a welcome letter at the beginning of the term where we talked about the direction we wanted the magazine to go in – emphasising that “no opinion is too controversial”.  Looking back over the content, it’s safe to say all of the writers have exceeded our expectations! We wanted  to create an open space for everyone’s opinions to be heard and reading back through the articles from this term, I can definitely say that this has happened. We have had refreshingly poignant and honest articles like Annabel’s “Can We Talk about Racial Representation in the Media?” as well as brilliantly witty and light hearted pieces such as our “Tinder Tales” stories, to name just a few. As Ella mentioned last week, we’ve really enjoyed the columnists this term with their interesting and diverse articles.

So we just wanted to say a massive thank you to all the writers and editors for their hard work so far. We look forward to the next term of more controversial, punchy, original articles. As ever, please do get in touch if you would like to write for us. Also, don’t forget that you can still apply for the campus celebrity correspondent position by emailing bristol@hercampus.com with your ideas for the role. On a final note, I just want to go back to mine and Ella’s first editor’s letter where we outlined exactly what Her Campus Bristol represents:

“Her Campus is a representative of the typical female undergraduate on campus. We see the Bristol woman as one who is not afraid to speak their mind; one who is interested and engaged in the world around them.”

Merry Christmas!
