Reese’s Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brandeis chapter.

With Valentine’s Day just two weeks away (stay tuned for a special Valentines Day edition of Her Campus that will debut soon), it’s time to start thinking of some inexpensive ways that you can show your friends that you care for them. My mom and grandmother were both big bakers, so consequently so am I. My gift idea for friends this Valentine’s Day is to make Reese’s stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies in cute takeout boxes with origami hearts for your valentine.

First, you need to bake your cookies. The recipe is as follows:

  • 2 ¼ cup of flour
  • ¾ cup of white granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup of brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. of salt
  • 1 tsp. of baking soda
  • 2 sticks of butter
  • 1 tsp. of vanilla
  • 1 bag of mini chocolate chips (do the mini for these cookies, that way the chips won’t be too big when you stuff the cookies with Reese’s).
  • 1 bag of mini Reese’s cups

Pre-heat your oven to 375 degrees. Mix all the ingredients together, except the Reese’s cups.  Then take a ball of dough and flatten it like a pancake.  Once flattened, put one Reese’s cup in the middle and then pull up the sides of the dough until the cup is entirely covered.  When all of the cookies are stuffed, bake for 10 minutes.  Another possibility is to use muffin pans and put the Reese’s in the middle that way (as pictured).

Once you have baked and cooled your cookies, put a cookie or two along with a few of your left over Reese’s in a takeout box.  I got my boxes at Michael’s in Natick for fifty cents each. Next, make an origami heart out of 15cm x 15cm paper.  This is very, very simple.  Do not let the word origami intimidate you—also you can find step-by-step instructions here.

Put the cookies, the Reese’s and the origami heart in your take-out box and voilà—you have a cute Valentine’s Day gift for all of your friends
