As college students, small bites and cute drinks are the key to the perfect event and if you’re looking for recipes, check out Second Bites with Sara on YouTube, Instagram and TikTok.
Second Bites with Sara is an up-and-coming food influencer who is here to make your favorite foods easy to make in your kitchen. The host and creator Sara Ferguson brings in a positive light to cooking by making each recipe made with love and simplicity.
“I don’t want to make anything if it doesn’t sound good to me,” said Ferguson. “I don’t want to just make it to make it, I want to enjoy it too. I want it to be something that I will enjoy or whoever is with me that day will enjoy too.”
Ferguson loves to cook for others, especially for her friends who supported her from the beginning. After well-intended pressure they gave her to share her food wisdom she started the channel.
“A lot of my friends were just like, you are a natural, you are good at this, and people would listen to you, you’ve got the personality,” said Ferguson. ” It took me probably, three years to believe that.”
The videos are made to make you feel good about cooking and not pressured to follow the rules. She takes simple things like jello shots and takes it to another level of delicious. My personal favorite is the cinnamon apple french toast and s’mores treats.
Ferguson gets her inspiration from food she had at restaurants, what her roommate’s favorites are or ones that her mom used to love. No matter the inspiration she is consistent that in all her recipes there is flavor and texture.
“I want multiple textures going on in my dish, and then I prefer at least two or three flavor notes. Something that has multiple textures like creamy, crunchy and flaky, like it’s a party in your mouth and that makes eating more interesting.” said Ferguson. “I don’t want something that’s just salty and sweet. I want something that’s salty, sweet and maybe smokey, or salty, sweet and maybe spicy. I really want as much as I can get into every bite.”
She has videos on how to make simple syrups so you can make your flavor coffee at home. Which helps you save money and it’s easy to make plus you can use the syrups to make cocktails that she has on her channel.
Ferguson works a full-time job and the channel on the side and due to it being new she’s learning to balance both. She only has a few videos uploaded on her YouTube channel but her Instagram and TikTok have been up to date and easy to watch, with even more recipes to come. She wants the audience to see the real her and know that she is trying to make their lives a little easier.
“I want people to feel like I’m talking to them and not just presenting. I really want people to feel like I could try and make that, and I want to help them elevate their lives and be like, haha Starbucks, I have brown sugar simple syrup too,” said Ferguson. “I want people to feel like they can be creative in the kitchen and save a buck. They can also have those pleasures and those more bougie or more elevated things every day. Like the world is burning, we should all have brown sugar simple syrup.”
I’m not one to bake or cook but I love to be a host. With her recipes I have been able to step up my game without stressing myself out.
