Have you ever thought about how odd makeup really is? Makeup is completely designed specifically for women, and if a man wears makeup, he’s gay or in show business.  Some women can’t leave the house without makeup, while some women have never picked up a compact disc in their life.  Why is makeup so important to some and not to others?

Personally, I’m kind of in the middle.  During my normal day I normally don’t wear makeup, but when I go out I like to have something on my face.  Whether it’s just some concealer and mascara or a fully done face, I want to go out looking better than normal.  Sometimes the idea of taking makeup off at the end of the day sounds like a horrible idea and sometimes it makes me feel better because I know I’m washing my face.  Makeup is either needed or not needed and I’m fine with being that way.

For those who put makeup on every day, I applaud you.  When I was working over the summer, I wore makeup every day and sometimes it felt like the worse thing ever. There was a new addition to my list when I was running late and I had to come home after a long day and take all of my makeup off.  Not only that, but makeup can run and be ruined throughout the day, so you always need something in your purse to fix up during the day. I applaud you and your ability to always shine your brightest at any point in the day.

For those who don’t use makeup every day, I applaud you as well.  While I applaud you for having confidence in yourself to not wear makeup, don’t misinterpret this to mean those who wear makeup everyday don’t have confidence or beauty.  In a world where the media portrays an image of flawless beauty, you don’t feel the need to wear makeup.  You feel beautiful with or without makeup and you are not afraid to show it.

Whether you use makeup or not, there’s no denying how much fun makeup can be.  The videos of people who completely alter their appearance to look like celebrities are incredible. If used correctly, makeup can hide, embellish, strengthen, or soften any feature on any face.  Makeup has so many uses besides just highlighting natural beauty, and the best part is that makeup is completely up to the discretion of each user.  If you love makeup, show the world.  If not, show the world.
