What to Pack for the Library: Essentials for a Day of Binge-Studying on Upper Campus

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

When you have so much work and studying to do that you aren’t even quite sure where to start, planning a day at the library is usually a productive choice that can clear both your mind and your to-do list. That being said, it may take some planning to make sure you have everything you need to avoid unnecessary trips up and down the Smith Stairs. Here is a list of must-haves to make sure your study day is as productive as possible:

All of your everyday school supplies

Notebooks, pencils, colored pens, books, paper, folders, binders

Study tools to help you focus on the subject matter

Index cards, post-it notes, highlighters, planner

Study Plan

In order to be as productive as possible, it is a good idea to plan out the things you need to accomplish. List out chapters you need to review and topics you don’t know well to make your time at the library worthwhile.

Electronics

Computer, computer charger, phone, phone charger, flash drive for storing and transferring files. Headphones are also a necessity in the library, but make sure they’re compatible with your phone AND your computer!

Water Bottle

Fill up a bottle with ice & water from seasons to keep you hydrated and keep your mind sharp.

Library-friendly food

Food that doesn’t make too much noise and keeps you full is a must-have for a long day of studying. Try grapes, granola bars, sandwiches, and salads.

Money or swipe card

When a farmhouse sandwich or avocado toast from Einstein’s is calling your name, make sure you are prepared.

Comfortable Clothing

There’s nothing worse than being uncomfortable when you’re studying, so wearing leggings or sweats may be a good choice for staying comfy while you study.

Lip Balm

Whether Carmex, Blistex, or Chapstick, is your go-to, don’t let chapped lips distract you from studying.

Gum or Mints

Having gum in your backpack is a must-have for any type of day, especially a day of studying.

Study “Incentives”

When reading multiple chapters, the need to treat yourself never seemed so real. Bring a pack of M&Ms or another fave to keep you going throughout the seemingly countless hours.
