Having the same routine day in and day out from week to week can sometimes feel monotonous and depressing. This is especially true during the busy winter months that are all work and no play. Here are a few seemingly insignificant little things that brighten my day when I need a reason to smile:
- An iced coffee from Dunkin’ (preferably mocha with almond milk)
- Getting a good grade back on an assignment that was a lot of work
- Eating Cool Ranch Doritos
- The color yellow
- Getting fresh flowers
- Going on a small date with my boyfriend or friends to get takeout (my favorite is Chic-Fil-A)
- Helping out a friend by giving them good advice
- Having a FaceTime call with my family when I’m away at school
- Completing a really productive workout at the gym
- Getting to pet a cute cat or dog
- Getting a surprise (good) text from a friend I haven’t talked to in a while
- A surprisingly warm day during the cold winter months
- Listening to a new episode of my favorite podcast or show (check out RealPod by Victoria Garrick on Apple and Spotify!!!)
- Having a package arrive (most likely from my online shopping addiction)
- Having a picture taken of myself where I really like how I look (I know this sounds vain, but it can really boost your confidence which I don’t think is a bad thing!)
- Waking up in the morning and actually feeling really well-rested and full of energy (this is sadly more rare than it should be)
- Working on a project that I’m really passionate about
- Getting my nails done and loving how they turn out
- Going for a long drive in my car with a really good playlist
- Feeling obsessed with a really addictive new song
- Looking forward to fun weekend plans with friends
- Getting a hug from a loved one
