New Habits

Sometimes I feel like I’m stuck in a loop when everyday seems to feel the same. Instead of continuing in this loop, I’m putting in an effort to create new habits that will add something to look forward to each day. While building new habits can feel like such a challenge, remembering to take it one step as a time has helped me stay motivated on days that aren’t as great as others.

The first habit I started was exercising regularly. Going to the gym had been something I was putting off for a while, but at the start of the semester I started going with my friend. This habit has been so beneficial to my health both physically and mentally as I’m using my free time to get stronger and clear my mind of any stress.

The next habit I’ve been working on is reading instead of scrolling through social media. When I was younger, I loved to read, and I realized it is something that I should spend time doing when I need a break from anything else. Reading has helped me relax after long days, and opening a new book is now something I look forward to.

The newest activity I’ve started is going for walks outside. Since the weather is finally getting nicer, I’ve been trying to go for walks as much as I can. Being outside and taking in fresh air always puts me in a better mood.

Since starting these habits, I’ve noticed I feel more productive throughout the day and have been thinking more positively. My mood has been better, and I look forward to having more healthy habits and setting new goals for myself. If you feel like your days have been boring lately, I recommend trying out a new hobby or activity that could turn into a healthy habit.
