Starting a new semester comes with new beginnings, new routine, new goals, new everything. What is different about this semester is it is also a new year, which allows for a huge change a “New Year, New Me” approach. A bit overwhelming.
Which is why I’m starting small. Minimalistic tasks requiring little to no effort. Starting with resetting my living space, a fresh pair of sheets, a cleared off desk, and organizing my clothes. When my space is tidy, I feel calmer and more relaxed. Next, creating a daily and weekly routine for myself. Setting goals, filling out my calendar, starting healthy habits.
Something else I will prioritize is letting go of last semester and last year. Remind myself of the good and my achievements while releasing or learning from the bad. I need to keep myself in check with stress levels and burnout at the end of the semester, how staying on task prevents this.
At the end of the day my reset isn’t changing who I am or being something new. It is about giving myself a clean start pressure free. Starting small and letting go what is a burden on me will allow me to grow. Progress doesn’t have to be extreme sometimes it’s the little things that go a long way.
