Caroline Gervais ’19

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

Meet Caroline Gervais, the fashion-forward friend that everyone needs! Keep reading to learn more about this glamorous Gamma.

Hometown: Durham, CT

Major: IDCC (PR Focus), with a Management minor

Year: Sophomore

Her Campus Bentley: What’s the Caroline Gervais starter pack?

Caroline Gervais: My pearl earrings, a Kate Spade purse, a Lilly Pulitzer dress, my phone, and an Iced Coffee. (I swear I am not a #typicalwhitegirl, I just dress like one…?)

HCB: Where is the coolest place you’ve ever traveled?

CG: Greve, Italy! It’s an adorable Tuscan-town in the Chianti region of Italy that I visited with the faculty-led course.

HCB: Your family owns what sounds like a pretty sick toy shop at home. What’s the biggest perk of the family business?

CG: Free toys! At least, that was the biggest perk when I was a kid. My mom used to get me to help out at the store by promising me toys as a reward. And, I got to try out all the cool new things before everyone else because I was the “official toy tester” at the store. Now the biggest perk is being able to work with my mom everyday and being able to do something that I really enjoy!

HCB: What’s your role within Gamma Phi?

CG: I am the Education Vice President! I do a LOT of stuff including: attending weekly eboard meetings, planning Bid Day/chapter retreat, organizing and executing 10 sisterhood events a semester, and I oversee several committees and 7 chairwomen. It’s a 24/7 commitment, but it has been a great learning experience!

HCB: What’s your favorite part of Gamma Phi?

CG: My littles, Gigi & Elizabeth!

HCB: What else are you involved in on campus?

CG: Gamma and my school work takes a significant amount of my time, but I’m a writer and the events chair for HerCampus, and next year I will be a CareerEdge Colleague—which is a job and leadership program that I am very excited about! And next year, I plan on getting more involved with service learning and some more professional organizations.

HCB: Why should girls go Greek?

CG: Going Greek really expands your social network here at Bentley and there are so many great leadership opportunities! My sisters have really helped me feel more at home here and my eboard position has given me a LOT of new skills and experiences.

HCB: What’s your current Netflix binge-watch?

CG: I’m a pretty avid-Netflix watcher and I’m kind of in between shows at the moment. I did start watching the Dick Van Dyke Show the other night and it’s pretty funny. It’s an old black and white comedy show, very similar to I Love Lucy. Definitely not a typical show to watch in college, but it’s good! Recently I finished Parks & Rec, 90210, and Friends (for the 11th time). Oh and my boyfriend and I are watching That 70’s Show together!

HCB: What’s your favorite movie of all time?

CG: Okay that’s a tough one… I’d have to go with Breakfast At Tiffany’s… But my list of favorites is about a mile long.

HCB: If you could befriend any fictional character, who would it be?

CG: Olivia Pope! For two reasons: 1) she’s amazing, and 2) you certainly don’t want to be her enemy…

HCB: Starbucks or Dunkin?

CG: That’s a tough one but Butter Pecan is my go-to drink in the summer so… Dunkin. I do love Starbucks, especially the Very Berry Hibiscus refresher!

HCB: Are you a dog or cat person?

CG: Dog person all the way!!!! But I do like some cats.

HCB: Were you a Disney Channel or Nickelodeon kid?

CG: Disney Channel! When I was little I mostly watched DragonTales and Zaboomafu on PBS, but inevitably I started watching Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverley Place and all those great Disney Channel Original Movies.

HCB: Webkinz or Club Penguin?

CG: Webkinz! I had like 50 or 60 of them thanks to the store… boy was that a crazy time! At one point we had to keep them in locked cases because people were so obsessed they tried to steal the tags!

HCB: If you were a Crayola crayon, what color would you be?

CG: Vivid Violet

HCB: What are three things you can’t live without?

CG: Coffee, my Country Gold Spotify playlist, and (this is super cheesy) my boyfriend.

HCB: Where’s your favorite place (or what’s your favorite item) to spend your discresh on campus?

CG: Einstein’s of course! Gotta have my post-class asiago bagel!

HCB: What’s been your favorite experience at Bentley thus far?

CG: My recent trip to Italy with the faculty-led international course! It was an AMAZING week!

HCB: What’s your dream job?

CG: Queen of the World. Lol jk, I hope to be in charge of my own PR firm. Last year one of my professors told me and my two friends that we should start our own firm after we presented our final project and I realized that that would be pretty awesome! I also really want to intern for TJX in their buying office. I love to shop and I have a lot of experience with retail so I think I’m kind of perfect for it.. hopefully they will think that too when I apply next summer!

HCB: Do you have any plans for the summer?

CG: Nothing terribly exciting…but I am going to see FGL perform at Fenway so I’m pretty pumped for that! I will be working full time at the store doing a bit more marketing work than I usually do, so that will be fun! I mostly just plan on having a lot of fun and enjoying my time at home with my family and boyfriend!

Native New Yorker Brooke Camarda has had her eclectic share of jobs—from the runways of NYFW to the haunted hallways of NYZ Apocalypse. Commonly known by her alter ego of Wonder Woman, there's no task or adventure that the skydiving-enthusiast isn't willing to take on. She loves typography and cappuccinos almost as much as she loves her (very) big family, and is thrilled to be writing for Bentley University's chapter of Her Campus.
Hi, my name is Molly! I'm currently the Co-President and a Campus Correspondent for Bentley University's HC chapter.
