Remember back in September when you first walked into your new dorm room?  The walls were white and bare; the furniture was illogically placed; and all that sat on your bedframe was that shiny, sea-foam green, plastic mattress (…yuck).  It was then that you and your roommates got to work, for lack of a better phrase, pimping out your crib (maybe with a little direction from Her Campus: “DIY Dorm-Friendly Decorations” & “Make Your Dorm Your Home”).

However, September has long since past, and it is that time of year again – Fall is finally here and so are midterms.  This combination of chilly weather and stress-provoking exams has the potential to result in, what can only be described as, “the Mid-October Blahs” – a form of despair and downheartedness that sets in after the realization that the Columbus Day long-weekend has come and gone and Halloween is still over two weeks away.  During the Mid-October Blahs period, it can be all too easy to fall into a gloomy depression, which is why Her Campus is invoking a little bit of friendly competition to keep everyone’s spirits up!

Now is the time to pull yourself out of the Mid-October Blahs by showing off all of your handiwork and creativity in Her Campus’ “Crib Contest”!  Submit photos of your killer dorm decorations to meghankeefe@hercampus.com with “Crib Contest” in the subject line, and your photos could be featured on HC BC’s Facebook and Twitter pages!  Get your mind off of studying and engage in a little harmless procrastination – stage a photo shoot in your room, send in your pics, and get to view your dorm and others online.
