Decorate your Dorm for Spring: DIY Style

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Spring is right around the corner! Well, hopefully right around the corner, which means it is time to brighten up your dorm room with some lovely spring accessories. Pinterest provides the perfect seasonal décor ideas to add some life back into your dorm room!

Paper Flowers

There may not be real flowers outside your dorm quite yet, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t bring their beauty into your room! Pick up some pastel-colored construction paper (or color the computer paper you already have in your room to save money) and make a gorgeous bouquet of paper flowers like the one pictured above. They will be sure to brighten your day. Find the step-by-step tutorial here

Melted Crayon Art, Spring-ified!

Everyone loves the classic “use your hairdryer to make a piece of art” DIY technique, but why not change it up to add a little more liveliness to your room. Simply follow the normal technique for melting crayons, but do so in a way that makes it look like a flowerpot with stems sticking out. Then, hot glue a few cheerful-looking flowers to create a masterpiece for your plain white dorm room wall!

Printable Spring Décor

Maybe between midterms, exams, and papers you don’t have enough time to create your very own unique craft to showcase in your room, but you still want to bring a little spring indoors. These printable wall accessories require minimal effort. Simply print, cut, and hang on your wall to celebrate the end of winter!

Find all of these ideas and more on Pinterest and be sure to share your finished DIY Spring craft with Her Campus by tagging @hercampusbc in your post!

Shannon is currently in her junior year at BC.  She is majoring in Elementary Education and English, hoping to one day teach in an urban school.  Originally from Hopkinton, MA, one of Shannon's favorite things to do is tell people that her hometown is the start of the Boston Marathon - it's claim to fame!  In her free time, you can find Shannon cuddled up somewhere with her adorable giraffe-spotted mug.
Kelsey Damassa is in her senior year at Boston College, majoring in Communications and English. She is a native of Connecticut and frequents New York City like it is her job. On campus, she is the Campus Correspondent for the Boston College branch of Her Campus. She also teaches group fitness classes at the campus gym (both Spinning and Pump It Up!) and is an avid runner. She has run five half-marathons as well as the Boston Marathon. In her free time, Kelsey loves to bake (cupcakes anyone?), watch Disney movies, exercise, read any kind of novel with a Starbucks latte in hand, and watch endless episodes of "Friends" or "30 Rock."
