The Best Thing to Wear: Confidence

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Wondering what to wear today? Don’t think too hard because there is only one must-have item that you need to rock everyday. It’s CONFIDENCE. It seems so simple, but is often the most forgotten item. You can wear anything in your closet and it won’t look half as good unless you wear it with confidence.

College is the time for everyone to find themselves and in this quest of experimenting, we sometimes forget to maintain a self-assured attitude. The best way to get over any incident is to remain confident and brush off any feelings of regret.  It’s college.  We only have four years; there is no time for that. So, next time you are debating  whether or not break it down on the dance floor at City Side, just bust a move!

Body image. Another issue that sometimes causes doubt. No one has a perfect body and those that you see on magazines are perfect due to Photoshop, so stop putting yourself down and embrace the body you have. People are attracted to energy. Those who are confident in themselves are far more fun and entertaining, than those who are insecure. Being insecure not only drags you down, but drags down everyone else with you. Next time you want to take a jab at your body, while looking in the mirror, tell yourself,  “Damn, I look good!”

Stop focusing on what you don’t have and start working what you do have. Turn those “disadvantages” into advantages. People view you how you view yourself. When you radiate a confident, “long hair don’t care” attitude people will give you more respect. No matter what you wear, it will not look good without confidence. Don’t just walk – Strut!

I am a Political Science major and Women's and Gender Studies minor at Boston College. I am an RA on campus and am involved in the Student Admissions Program. Since I am from Florida, I can legitimately say that I love long walks on the beach. I also love getting lost in a world fabricated by a novel, there is honestly nothing better.
