5 Free Fitness Apps That You Need in your Life

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Having a balanced life in college is difficult to say the least. Between schoolwork, club meetings and maintaining a social life, finding the time to hit the gym can feel impossible. Even if you are able to squeeze in a workout, falling into the same routine of exercises is all too easy, but unfortunately isn’t very productive. Here are five (free!!) workout apps that you can use at home or at the gym to help keep you on track and workout efficiently!

  1. Nike Training Club. This app is awesome because it caters to how in (or out of) shape you are. When making an account, you’re asked a few questions about how often you exercise and what kind of workouts  you prefer to do. There are endless options of beginner through expert level equipment and non-equipment workouts, as well as yoga sessions targeting whatever part of your body you want to exercise that day, and it keeps track of your progress!

2. Fitness 365. This app is great for when you’re in a time crunch but want to do a quick workout. It offers a variety of 10 minute workouts, as well as other workouts for cardio, abs, butt, upper body, fat burning and bodybuilding!

3. Fitbod. Not only does Fitbod ask how fit you are, but takes into what your goals are in joining the app (increasing muscle mass, toning or weight loss, etc.) It also lets you choose what days of the week you are able to workout, and generates a weekly routine for you. If you don’t think you can do a work out you have the option to replace or delete it.

4. MyFitnessPal. This one is similar to the Nike Training Club, but is associated with Under Armour. However, this one goes an extra step and provides informational articles on meal planning, exercises, and video bits by professional trainers.

5. GymBook. While this app doesn’t offer videos, it has a list of weight lifting exercises with sets, reps, and weights listed. It is mostly an organizer where you can log all of your workouts, and keep track of your body measurements.

All of these apps make being fit and healthy a little bit easier at school- check them out!
